Monday’s Muse…Thrift Stars
The most fashionable women are not found in magazines or on your television screen. They are in the street and sitting next to you on the bus or in the coffee shop. Women who embody real personal style that cannot be obtained simply by wearing overpriced designer clothing or copying celebrity looks. They are self confident and willing to experiment with color and proportion as if they were creating a work of art. Inspiring women who view their clothing and accessories not only as a means to an end, but as an awakening of body and soul.
They are part of the Wardrobe Remix group, founded by the talented Tricia Royal of Bits and Bobbins. Many of the “re-mixers” also have blogs that chronicle their outfits and wardrobe experiments. I featured my own re-mixer in the picture above - Stephanie. She and I headed to Chicago this weekend for a clothing swap and met a lot of great women and found several thrifty items. Thanks to Amber and Eve of Painfully Hip for inviting us and to the lovely owners of the huge loft in Wicker Park who hosted the event. More on that trip later this week…

Those little pink kickers are cute - and probably discouraged any bangers in the area from approach - because those things look like they would HURT you.

Those are cute shoes.
And I agree with you, being fashionable is not replicating celebrity outfits. It’s being an individual.

I hope the U.S. wont forget about me! And I will most likely be taking your advice and going to London College of Fashion

Linda - Too bad I am not a size 7 *sigh*, but she certainly breaks the mold sometimes. I found three sweaters at the swap and she leaves with a great scarf and those shoes!
Christine - Good for you! I wish I would have followed my dream when I was your age so go for it and get the heck out of here - best of luck to you!

I am so not hip. *sigh* I wear whatever is comfy and it’s usually boring. I wouldn’t mind being a little more hip - or at least classically elegant. Love those pink shoes.

Castocreations - I’m pretty boring as well - usually wearing jeans, tees and cardigan sweaters, or jackets LOL. Classically elegant is eternally hip in my book

I like that name “wardrobe remix.” Very clever
And those shoes are hot! I love those and the scarf. This is something I could see myself wearing if I were going into the city. I have black shoes very similar to those, and I adore them with a pair of jeans

Sandy - It’s funny how those shoes look sort of hooker-ish and trashy, say, with a skirt and some fishnet stockings. But they are perfect with a pair of jeans.

My granny’s good as mixing her wardrobe. I couldn’t pull off some of the things she does
