Friday Q & A - Pump Up The Volume
Oops…it’s Saturday! Oh well, here ya go… 
Q: I have a few hugely voluminous tops and dresses from last Spring - are they still trendy this year? I like feminine. loose fitting styles and can’t stand tight clothes - should I still wear them? I’m interested in your opinion. Thanks!
A: My first rule in fashion is never tell someone what they can and can’t wear although you should keep in mind proportion and what is right for your body. Wear what you like and who cares if it is on trend. That said, volume has not been forgotten in 2008, but it is more tailored and subdued. Slim down those floaty dresses with a nice belt, structured jacket or vest. Enormous bell and lantern sleeves have dropped off the fashion radar, so unless you can pull them off without looking clownish, keep the sleeve detail minimal. Try a soft balloon sleeve, a slight puff at the shoulder or a neat dolman style.

Good to know. I did like tops and dresses with a bit of a poof on the sleeve or shoulder. I have narrow shoulders so that helped give them a wider appearance. I’ll have to remember this!
